The Urban Futures Institute, a non-profit membership society, was founded in 1996 to provide the public presentations and reports on dimensions of demographic and economic change. Since its inception, The Institute has published over 70 reports in addition to numerous articles related to managing change. There is considerable interest in issues of housing affordability in communities throughout British Columbia. Unfortunately, there is very little in the way of valid statistical evidence that can assist in measuring the extent of affordability problems, in identifying the causes of these problems, or in identifying the segments of our communities experiencing them.

This series of reports focuses on the big picture, looking at commonly-cited measures of housing affordability and what they do, and do not, tell us about housing affordability in BC.
