About Urban Futures

Better knowledge means better decisions.  The goal of Urban Futures is to provide knowledge and insight to firms, organizations and agencies on growth and change so that strategic decisions can be made.  We turn data into knowledge, and knowledge into strategic planning.

Urban Futures Incorporated grew out of The Urban Futures Institute, a non-profit membership society that carries out research to provide public information on changes affecting population, community change and land use.  Since inception in the summer of 1996, The Institute conducted over 300 research based presentations and published over 75 reports.  During this period the Institute has received numerous enquiries about providing consulting services to firms and organizations to evaluate and strategically manage change.  In the fall of 2001 David Baxter and Andrew Ramlo incorporated Urban Futures to respond to these requests.

Urban Futures’ experience in research, analysis and forecasting spans a wide range of contexts including:

·     The markets for housing, consumer goods & services and labour;

·     Health care, education, community and social services systems;

·     Local and regional economic development;

·     Urban land economics;
